With many C2s you see that the front bumpers are misaligned and not parallel to the ground; the bumper ends are above the center. I assume these are reproduction replacements. Why are so many misaligned? Are the bumpers themselves not accurate reproductions? Are the mounting brackets not accurate? A replacement front clip with misaligned mounting holes? Or is it just poor installation? Just curious...

Re: Front Bumper Misalignment Question
There was a recent post of a C2 coming down the assembly line with the front bumpers crooked...they came that way from the factory. If they were straight, you were lucky.Leif

Re: Front Bumper Misalignment Question
Recently installed after-market bumpers and the horizontal brace attached to the frame on my 64. In order to get my bumpers aligned horizontally, and without stress at bolt holes, I had to auger out a majority of the holes and slots with a carbide grinding bit. BUT - do not auger out the holes on the frame, as those are starting points. And, obviously, the holes backed by a welded bolt cannot and should not be messed with. However, all other holes/slots can be modified to get things to go together. Put everything together loosely, don't tighten, until it please you. There is a good video on Youtube of a guy restoring a 63 coupe, and he has a segment on installing bumpers. The same could be used for adjusting. I watched it several times and got some good tips. Finally, don't think this might be a 2 hour job. For the novice, which I am, it took me multiple times of installing, modifying, and reinstalling the pieces before I was satisfied. Good luck.- Top
