This is what I did when i cut the sticker off the 67 tank. I would get a friend to help. Would not cut close to the sticker.Joseph, you may want to leave the tank intact and cover the document with clear plastic taped on the sides. I've cut fragile documents out and discarded the tank when it's too far gone. The good news it you can read each and every option including the L89. I scraped one off my '67 recently and it wasn't in much better shape, I'll leave that up to you if you want to attempt removing the document with a razor scraper.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

This seems to be the best way to go. I'm a dentist so I have an electric lab dremmel and have large cutoff wheels in my lab.One way to cut that section of the tank with minimal vibration would be to use a Dremel (or similar) with the cutting disc. I recently used this method for another cut job I had on steel probably twice as thick as the tank shell is and it was remarkably easy & fast. Quite a treasure you have there - both the car and the documentation. Good idea to proceed cautiously. Good luck with the whole process of preservation and restoration.
I think I'll carefully remove the loose pieces and then make the cut.
What has everyone used to glue the pieces together?- Top
