    1973 & 1974 Power Brake Booster coding Question

    I came across a Delco-Moraine Power Brake Booster with this complete code 7K5 305 A 10842. I checked the 73/73 Technical Manuel page 184 with the example breakout of fig. ch 3.3. What is not identified is the 7K5 stamping and no 3 or 4 for the year. I've asked one of the fellows who assisted in the issuance of the Manuel. Thought, I'd would float my question to the NCRS Group, too. So, what is the coding telling me? I read the 305 Julian Date and part # 10842 for 1974 but no year and the 7K5 code!

    Appreciate all input.

    Re: 1973 & 1974 Power Brake Booster coding Question

    Hi Tom,
    After looking back through all or most of my notes and photos from both the 73-74 & 75-77 TIM&JG Revisions I worked on I couldn’t find an example of the Julian date code exactly like your example. However, the five digit part number ( 10842) was present on PB Boosters from ‘74 thru ‘76. Keeping in mind that the boosters changed from black to gold cadmium in ‘77. Except for some earlier 77’s that had the Bendix Boosters , they were still black. That being said I’ve come up with the following:
    K= November
    75=1975
    305= 305th day of 1975 = Nov.1 (pretty sure)
    A= First Shift
    10842= last 5 of part number
    So, let’s see if others have more input.
    I’ve attached your photo here too!

      Re: 1973 & 1974 Power Brake Booster coding Question

      Jimmy, you may be correct but my 74 boosters are coded differently. The first picture shows 4 85A 10842 which I believe would indicate the 85th day of 1974, shift A. This works for the car with a build date of 4/25/74. The second picture shows 4 8 B 10842 which I believe would indicate the 8th day of 1974, shift B. This works for the car with a build date of 1/21/74.
