Restoring C2 Hood Release a couple of questions

    Hi
I'm working on restoring my 67 Hood Release and have a couple of questions.
1-The .060" pull wire is crimped to the pull lever. If I cut the crimp off, can I remove the old wire and recrimp it or is there more holding the pull wire into the pull lever?
2-How do people fill in the debossed lettering with white paint? Any tricks?

I think I saw an article in the past on restoring these. If anyone has a link to it, I'd appreciate it. I tried searching, but to no avail.

    Thomas,
I can answer your second question. It’s called a ‘Lacquer Stick’. Basically, it’s a crayon that fills in the debossed lettering. I used it on my C2 steering wheel horn cap and hood release handle. Easy to use. Just fill in the letters and wipe off the excess. I believe I purchased it from Paragon, so I would check to see if Corvette Central has them now. Pics attached. Best luck with your project.

    Regards,
    John W.

      Thomas,
Amazon has them in different colors for about $5. Search ‘Lacquer-Stik’.

I've bought that type of paint stick at the hobby store - Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc. Save a bunch on shipping!
