    Glovebox Lock Judging

I need help from a regional level interior judge. I am helping prepare a 66 for the Clemson Regional. I have pictures attached of two glovebox locks. The one on the left is chrome plated and the other one is natural casting.

I believe the chrome one is correct for 64-66 and the natural one is correct for 67.

My question is whether the finish of the glovebox lock is judged? The 7th edition of the 67 judging guide mentioned that the U shaped retainer is chrome but makes no mention of the lock/latch assembly finish. I only have an old version of the 66 judging guide and it also makes no mention of the lock/latch assembly finish.

    Thanks,
    Don

    Don,

Is there evidence from ‘67 Bowtie cars that the lock case was not chrome plated for ‘67? Up until your statement, I was under the impression that the chromed case was used from ‘64 thru ‘67.

Similar to the wording in the ‘67 JG, the current edition of the ‘66 JG only mentions that the lock U retainer and the retainer screw are chrome plated. I don’t know if the upcoming edition will offer any further description of the lock itself. I hope it does, since every original ‘66 glove lock that I’ve seen was flash chrome plated.

      Gary,

I do not have a definitive answer as for a Bowtie car. I am just going by what I have seen in my 67 and a couple of friends with 67s. My car is by no means a Bowtie car, but it has a lot of original little things, or at least that appear to be original. Very small sample size but I'm seeing three 66s with chrome glovebox lock housing and three 67s with natural cast housings.

Don, The 67 8th Edition says the lock assembly, "U" shaped retainer and screw are all chrome.
