      Mark,

Thanks for the recommendations. Have they done work for you? I do not see them advertised in the Drive Line, so I'll assume they have a web site.

      Thanks,

      James

Phil Cancilla @ Custom Rebuilt Carburetors has done several for me...excellent restorations. Phil epoxies the welch plugs as part of his restorations to assure there will be no fuel leaks. If you don't want the epoxy, just let him know up front. If maximum points is what you're looking for, you might not want the epoxy (might cost you a point or a simple notation)...but, I drove mine and I didn't want any future leaks.

          James,
Craig did mine 20+ years ago and I had no points lost at the 2003 PTSC Regional and 2 points lost at the 2003 Hershey National for a gasket. I don't know what the issue was with the gasket.

          here's Craig's website link:

At one point, I had 9 tripower carburetors. Craig restored the 3 still on the car today.
I later sold the other 6 to Phil - I never had him restore any of mine, but I've heard nothing but good comments about him and he was very fair and easy to deal with when I sold mine to him

          thx,
          Mark

I have had several friends that used Phil C. in the past. They do a full restoration including re-coloring and re-plating all linkages. Plus the have a wet flow bench and test every unit.

On a similar topic, I have a 4150 model 3247 with stripped threads in the secondary fuel bowl where the fuel inlet fitting attaches. Holley tells me there is very little you can do as a helicoil is not a satisfactory option. Unless I can find the proper secondary bowl, I may need to replace the carburetor. Appreciate any suggestions. Would consider sending to the above mentioned rebuilders and will probably give them a call to see if this would fit into their scope of work.

Phil has done the carb on all four of my '67's. I drive my cars, so I have him do a rebuild that sacrifices some points for the reliability aspect. Pretty much bolt on and go.

There may be others out there, I just happen to use Phil. I would imagine he's done 10 cars for me including a number of tri-power setups.

Are there deductions for the epoxy plus ?

I have used Custom Rebuilt Carburetors in New Jersey, and I have always been satisfied with the results. The owner is Phil Cancilla and is contact number is: (732) 356-4333. Tell him that I referred you. They do a great job re-plating it.

Thanks to all for your input regarding recommendations for Holley carburetor 4150, List 2818-1 rebuild and restoration. I will give the recommended restorers a call to inquire about their services, turn-a-round time, and estimated costs.

                      Thanks to all who replied.

                      Best Regards,

                      James

I just received my Holley 4150 List 2818-1 back from being restored and it looks great. Did a line by line judging of it per the current 1965 TIMJG. One thing that after looking at pictures in the TIMJG and of unrestored '65's with 2818-1 carbs I see two discrepancies.

The first one is the accelerator pump operating lever came back with the adjustment screw and spring plated black like the lever itself. In the TIMJG is looks as if the adjustment screw and spring are a natural or possibly silver zinc finish. The picture I have of an original 2818-1 carb also shows that it is not black.

The other question is whether the float adjustment nut edges are to be chamfered or flat? I know the slotted locking screw top edge is chamfered per the TIMJG. My carb came back with the float adjustment nuts with chamfered top edges at the wrench flat points.

The first picture is my restored carb with the black accelerator pump arm adjusting screw and spring with the black finish. The second picture is from a regional meet in 2021 where the original owner was having his unrestored '65 judged. The float adjustment locking nuts have un-chamfered top edges at the wrench flat points. The picture in the TIMJG looks like they also have the un-chamfered top edges. which is correct?

                        Thanks,

                        James
