    Correct 67 Headlight ON/OFF Switch? 131 or 149

I am wanting to install a correct Headlight ON/Off switch in my 6/22/67 built car. The 67 AIM calls for a 1195131 and from what I understand the switch service part number was changed in 4/67 to a 1195149. From the end of April to the last 67 left the assembly line, roughly 5500 Cars were built. My assumption is that Chevrolet likely did not have 5500 switches in inventory at the plant to cover all the cars till the final 67 was built in August. If I assumed correctly at some point after April 67 the 1195149 switch was used to finish out the 67 model year.

Does anyone know if any 67 cars were ever built using the 1195149 Switch?

    Kurt,
I am cautious to give any bad info here but I own a early 67 roadster built September 23 1966 that I replaced the headlight switch in and the original was a 149 switch, I replaced it in kind.

I believe the 131 was a 66 M/Y switch and the difference has to do with the marker lights staying on when the headlights were used. On the 1966 cars the front marker lights would go out when you pulled for headlights.

      Timothy,

Thanks for the info. Interesting that your car had a 149 in it that early in the model year. The 67 front marker lamps act the same as yours as they go off when the headlights are on. I think 68 was first year the front markers stayed on with headlights.
Thanks for sharing, I'm hoping more folks do the same. The 8th Edition 67 Judging Guide does not have any info on the headlight switch, so this topic may make it in the Guide if we can sort it out.

I have the part numbers wrong. 1995131 and 1995149 are the correct numbers.
