    1965/66 Factory power antenna

I have a 65 Roadster, numbers match 327 -350hp. Pretty much original, rebuilt engine and paint in 1992, but I noticed in my detailing a few things that just don't look right. I have an 1965 assembly manual and a 63-67 NCRS Tech Info Manual & Judging Guide, and this is where I noticed certain parts were different especially the power antenna.
Last fall I noticed that it was going up very slowly, if at all sometimes. Over this past winter I removed it from the car and tried to service it with much better results, it now goes up and down much smoother. That is when I noticed the difference in the motor housing and the tip of the antenna, I have enclosed a few pictures with this post, if anyone can identity what year vette this came out of I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help

    It’s not from a 65 or 66.

Dana- welcome to the Technical Discussion Board.
As Dave says yours is not a 65/66 corvette antenna..
This older thread shows how the OEM antenna appears as well as a complete description of overhauling one on your workbench.

Hi Dana, The antenna you pictured in your post appears to be the one I have on my 1966. In the early 70’s I purchased it from the parts department at my local Chevy dealer. Fortunately I saved the original. Hope this helps.

I agree. When I got my ‘66 it had the same early 1970s GM service replacement antenna as in your photo. As told to me by a previous owner of my car, the original antenna was bent at 90 degrees by a vandal while parked at Disney World.

Hey Don that thread you mentioned, I found that over the winter and that’s how I realize that the antenna I have is not the correct one. That was a great thread I got a lot of information on power antennas in general.
That’s a crazy coincidence Vernon that must’ve been the thing back then. Does your original antenna still work? Interested in selling it! lol, I’m trying to get mine back to as original as possible.
