Also the letters/numbers are larger and some aren't straight. The 55 with a V in front is also interesting. Is there anyone out there that specializes in s/n plates like Al Grenning on stamp pads or some of the others on later trim tags?

V Is ok. Info on deleted

Ted, I believe the V is OK V = V8. I removed my previous post, because I have no idea about these cars and I hate commenting with zero knowledge. Sometimes I am tempted, but I always regret comments. A vin tag is only a small portion of the authenicity of a car. Granted it is what the Government binds a title to. Proteam, I would think would vet these out for any problems. Eric

This is my vin tag for my 55. The V looks hand scratch rather than the imprinted V shown in the pisture.

Man am I glad they changed to rivets! Most looks like brand new Phillips a few originals and one slotted you think PT would at least have a box of correct Phillips to install.

                              Ted,
My known original early 58 tag looks exactly like the one on the yellow car from your first post. The whole s/n string is offset to the right of center. The "J" is higher than the "58S". The "58S" slopes upward. There is the same distortion of the lower part of the tag along the stamping, which is especially pronounced in vicinity of the last digit.
