    1968 Instrument broadcast code tag

For 1968 there is an orange broadcast code tag on the top of the instrumement. Here's a picture of my instrument cluster. Does this 'LR' translate back to a specific date? Looking forward to your responses,

    Erik Stroeve

LR is the broadcast code. It relates to the instruments and not the date. Usually the date is ink stamped on the instrument backing plate someplace. On the examples I have seen there is not code -- just a straight date.

Thanks guys - so LR is used for ALL 68 clusters?

The 1969 Stingray book of Rick Bizzoco has a picture of 2 other tags (I would guess that at least one of them is a 69 tag, but the pics are black/white so cannot confirm). From the top of my head there is a LD and LB tag, so I was wondering if a different letter is for different ...... (well fill out anything - different engines/different years/different production dates????).

                No...

'LR' describes an instrument cluster equipped with this particular ammeter, that particular oil pressure gauge, a tach with a redline of XXXX RPM, Etc. Different car configurations had different instrumentation configurations, Eric. That's what the guys are telling you about the 2-digit, alpha, code...
