71 storage tray

question on the 71 storage tray above the jack.

is there a black overspray on the outside of the box, about 1 inch?

mine is original and date stamped, but might have been previously fixed.

pics would be nice

Look carefully -- there is a little more to it than a simple one-inch band. The containers were nested and the exposed parts painted black -- thus there was a pattern of the container below marked on the outside. Also, it should be no surprise that one container -- the one on the bottom -- had the entire outside painted black.

Not only is there paint spray but also adhesive for the flocking came through the holes on the side. The whole thing is quite sloppy. Also, you said you have the date stamping underneath and I am doing some research on these. Could you email me with the numbers and symbols (if any) and spacing. If you could, a digital photo would be great. Thanks for any help you can give me.
