    Re: 71 storage tray

Your original post was about the storage box over the jack. I did not change the subject.

I would think if the bottom one was all black then the one just above it would show some round dots from overspray through the finger holes.

                        Romeo:
Looks like you did a very nice job. What flocking system did you use? I have used Don-Jer (I think that's the name) that I get from Rockler Woodworking. It is use principally for jewelry boes and silverware trays and yields excellent results. I have done several boxes and my own rear window tray from my '69.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm pleased with the work too.

                            I used the same kit.

First I rebuilt the lip in some areas using fiberglass tape used by drywallers, its thicker and self-adhesive, then brushed on a thin layer of fiberglass "bondo", and sanded before using the flocking kit. The inside is fine, but I plan on more sanding of the edges and touch-up.

                                Romeo:
For repairing frayed edges I use a clear epoxy made by LockTite. I clamp the edges between to pieces of wood wrapped in wax paper so the epoxy won't sdhere and just spreadf it on. After it cures I just have to sand smooth and flock. Works great.
