    Re: PV question

This is just my opinion but I would say so. Everything has to be 100% or you fail. If you do not ahve the hardtop or one like it that goes with the car I would say yhay is not 100%.. JMHO!

        Re: PV question

If you have both tops (car has 4 mountings for hard top) and elect to present as hard top then you must have the soft top folded up in it's stowage position. I think you have your option to perform the PV with the top of your choice same as flight judging. If car is a hard top or soft top only then you have no option.

            Re-read the PV rules...

You'll find that when 2-top cars are presented for performance verification BOTH tops must be present AND the owner is required to remove + install the HT (the PV judge is NOT to provide owner assistance here) as well as raise & lower the soft top. For the road test portion of the PV, the owner has the option to select which top is used.

Soooo, if there's evidence that a given Corvette WAS a 2-top car originally and it shows up for PV with only one top present, that's an automatic PV failure!

                Re: PV question

Both tops are not required for a PV. If the car is presented with the hardtop in place then you will have to demonstrate it's removal and reinstallation as part of the PV requirement. Otherwise you will need to demonstrate lowering and raising of the soft top.

To avoid any rule interpretation problem, I would suggest you contact the Team Leader who will be conducting the PV in advance and clarify the expectations.

                        Re: PV question

I agree with Don as I have passed a PV with just the soft top on a two top corvette that had the evidence that a factory hardtop was installed. This was a while back and rules change. I do not have the latest manual so Jack may be correct as I have seen PV's being done on the judging field where both tops were checked. This should be the same for all years.

                            Re: PV question

My understanding on this PV issue is as follows:
1.If it is a 2 top car but is presented with a soft top the owner must demonstrate that the soft top functions as original. Lack of a hardtop will not cause a failure.
                            2. If it is a 1 top car then the appropriate top must be presented and the owner must show it functions as original. i.e. latches etc.
                            3. If it is a 2 top car and it is presented with a hardtop then the owner must remove and reinstall the hardtop along with demonstrating that it functions as original. i.e. latches work, hold down bolts install properly etc. While the hardtop is off the owner must demonstrate that the soft top also functions as original. i.e. front and rear latches, hold down straps etc.

As suggested the appropriate team leader should be consulted prior to the test to confirm his/her requirements. I just did a PV on a 61 last April and Item #3 above was followed.
