I know that in 1967 that red interior was not available with a Silver exterior, but I have seen several in this combination and was wondering if the printed material has missed something. Even Revell made a model with this color combination and the picture on the front of the box looks like a real car not a model. I just love that color combo and would like to find a 67 with it if GM sold them that way. Thanks, Chris

Re: 67 Color Combo...
It did NOT require COPO authorization to order a Corvette with 'non-standard' color combinations AS LONG AS the individual colors/fabric selected were standard RPO listed items. The order sheets were based on the 'recommended' color matrix for a given year.
It's always been Chevy policy to give the customer what he/she wants. Pick up a current Corvette sales brochure and study the footnotes. You should find that it's still the current policy. It would be a COPO situation if the color/fabric were TOTALLY non-standard (like the pink Shriner's cars).
The reason there appears to be 'no documentation' on cars built this way is there were so few of them that when build numbers were expressed as a percentage of total production, they rounded to zero percent. But, these cars WILL have trim tags documenting their factory original color combination...- Top

Re: 67 Color Combo...
I know of at least two. One was bought at BG about 20 years ago by a friend of mine. He got to it before I did. The other one I saw was in INDY. some years ago. The guy would not sell it. I did not see any tank sticker but I did check the trim tags. Ihis was way before the repo. tags. I beleave the guy that bought it from Steve T. Had it judged at NCRS. I beleave Non recomended color combo's had to be cleared by the zone office but did not have to be COPO orderd. I have a 85 that has a non recomended color/interior.

In 1972 code was ZP2 for Color & Trim Override
My new '72 convertible was Steel Cities Gray Firemist, with Dark Bright Blue (go figure) vinyl trim. Shows up on GM Canada documentation. Don't know whether it was on the window sticker as it was already removed.
1972 was an exceptional year for option codes. They broke down everything by body style, including by each interior trim color.- Top
