I have two Mid Year Radios that don't work. I'd like to send them out and have all new modern components installed including Ipod and CD capabilities. I know there are companies doing this type of conversion but would like recommendations from those that may have already done this.....thanks.

Thanks Harry,
I'd like to use my original radio and have the internals modernized, leaving the outer appearance totally stock. Thanks for the help.- Top

Re: Mid Year Radio.
Rick,
I had an original '68 radio modernized ($400) by Mike Hagan (Antique radio Repair) in Fairless Hills, PA.
It has a 180 watt amp (all internal) & 2 RCA jacks for an external CD player or I-Pod, although I use an RF transmitter with my I-Pod.
The buttons & knobs function like the original radio, but if you follow certain steps, they will also handle modern functions like fade, balance, tone, etc.
He is at all of the Carlisle events if you want to hear his work. Here's his ad in Hemmings:
RADIO restorations, FM stereo conversions, 180 watts, 1946-1975; look for me at Spring Carlisle, F115-117. Mike Hagan, Antique Radio Repair, 235 Glouster Rd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, 215-547-7145.
Good luck,
Anthony- Top
