I have a 1970, March production it does not have slotted shims and recently had it aligned by a shop that knows corvettes, he told me the alignment procedures for the rear included removing and moving the shims from inside to outside pockets on each side then checking alignment each time. My shim placement and the shim type looked like yours before it was aligned now I have shims in both pockets.

This car probably has shims in both pockets too. We just can't see the inner ones in this image.
