    TriCarb Mounting Question

This is a repeat. Anyone have suggestions? Tri carb system is for 69 L89 car. Alum manifold is clean and all three carbs replated/built. The center carb needed a new base plate as the original had one corner broken. Front and rear carbs set flat on manifold but the center carb seems to have a little wobble corner to corner. Appros 10/1000 per the guage. I do not want to tighten it down and break the base plate. Can I use 2-3 gaskets? Would you put any sealer between the carb, gasket, manifold. Thanks

I wouldnt use any sealer. You can make up a gasket out of some thicker material, would probably be better than two gaskets.

Have the throttle body ("base plate") machined to eliminate any "warpage".

Old "indian trick" to fix warped carbs. Get you a small sheet of glass, a sheet of 400 wet or dry sand paper, and a little soap and water. Lay the sheet on your work bench, sandpaper face up, wet with soapy water, and lap the base of the carb until all the surface has been dressed. Clean up and put carb back together and reinstall.
