    C1 (1959 vs. 1960) Timing Cover Screws

    Members:

Paragon lists a slotted screw kit for the 283 timing cover and indicates "1955-1959", (Kit number there is 4904K-10.) They also sell "L" head bolts and indicate "1956-1982". (Kit number 7605K.)

I have seen the slotted ones on a 1960 engine, probably sourced from Paragon. Why would someone restore a 1960 engine with the slotted screws? The '60 I'm looking at was made in May, so it's not "early". (The owner believes he should have the slots.)

My dealer replacement 1960 block had bolts, but it's been apart more than one time.

    THANKS!

Yes, my experience is that the timing cover and water pump plate screws are the same for 1959. I had an original engine and compared the slotted screws.
