    ID date plus another ID

Engine stamping - "0001272F56G"; is this a 210 HP with manual trans and when would it have been built?

    Third member case with a casting # "3707806" =s ?????
Casting date is D286, which I assume is April 28, 1956/66/76.

    Thanks.

How about 3707306? Case for all ratios 32/9, 37/9, 37/10, 37/11, 37/12, and 41/9 ring/pinion sets, non posi 55-62 Pass car, Sed Delvry & Corvette, 63-64 Chev pass. Check you casting number as I can't find an 806.

I have asked the lady in question for another look - you are probably correct, given the "3" and the "8" resemblance. We're closing in on a 52 year-old question's answer, while all you guys are out shoveling snow (Oops, that's probably not "Technical" enough; oh well, banished from the Board again......but still alive.

Loren Lundberg (912) Engine stamping - "0001272F56G"; is this a 210 HP with manual trans and when would it have been built?

        Loren,

The only G suffix codes I find are 55 and 57 passenger car.
        55 265 three speed
        57 283 turboglide

I assume you are asking when the engine would have been built? The sequence number is so early that I suspect this is a August 55 engine. I saw an engine with a 12,000+ sequence number and it was a late September engine.

This would be REAL early for a 56 Corvette. Production started in January, 1956. The G suffix says two bbl, manual trans, installed in a passenger car.

          Does this help any?
