one other Question,What does the first 7 after the s stand for ?

I don't know that anyone has come up with a precise meaning for the that digit, although all the rest of the digits/characters are "accounted for". I have heard it described as a "check digit", but I've never found out just what that actually means.

There's no really ACCURATE one out there. The vin # on the blue label was printed off the protecto plate that came with your car. If you have a POP for your car/vin etc. you can have a label made fairly accurately. GM sued aftermarket makers of the blue labels years ago . Only one maker had a GM licence. That was Dobin's. Unfortunately the Dobins label , at $150 ,was so far off in color and lettering style, that they are almost worthless. E-mail me and I'll tell you how to get one made.

That number means nothing. All 1969s had the number 7. All 1970s had the number 4 in the same position. One can look up all the C3s up to 1972 and see what number they had in that position, but other than being the correct number for the year of the car, there is no meaning to it.

Bob - I got what I consider to be an excellent repo for my 70 from ECS Automotive Concepts, whose website used to be (and may still be)www.ecsautomotive.com. I think the color, font and spacing of the label are dead-on compared to the many originals I've seen.

I then carefully used my POP to imprint the relevant data, including leaving a barely legible imprint of the top of the second line from the POP like a lot of originals have. I think it really looks accurate. I'll try to post a pic of it later today for those who are interested.

              - P.S. The wording on the label is crisp and clean - the pictures are simply a little blurred.
