    C1 Windshield adjustment

I was cleaning my windshield on the 60, and noticed that the drivers side of the glass has shifted down and there is a gap between the upper stainless and the top of the glasss.

I assume from reading some other threads the top was installed to tight.

The tabs were fixed by Corvette Central before they were rechromed and installed so I am hoping they didnt break or shift.

Appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this... I am assuming the bottom gasget material that the glass sits on is the problem. it either wasnt put in properly or at all.

Most importantly can the glass be moved upwards to install the lower gasket with out having to remove the posts?

Hey Joe: Sounds like top may be too tight, could be that new windshields are being made too small?? . My first thought is to put the top down and then loosten up the upper windshiels frane hardware to see if you can get some movement out of it. Maybe measure between some tape tabs you put on first to see if anything moves. Then push down on the top frame??? and recheck themeasurements. Let me know if it works.

Joe, I went through the same thing with my 54. The top of the windshield was actually below the weatherstrip.

When I disassembled it I found that the lower seal was worn through, and was causing the windshield to sag low. The fix is to remove it and replace all of the rubber. I also had to shim the end posts (mine was also repaired by CC) with rubber to get it to fit correctly.

Every one wont their top to fit with no wrinkles (tight) which it never was when new then wonder why the top S/S pulls from the glass. But some of the problem is caused by using the wrong header weatherstripping , latch's or adjustments.
