For. I belong to Juliet Page's 1970 Corvette Registry. Not only is it 1500+ strong in members but it also has very useful production and date code information and a photgraphic library covering mechanical, chassis, exterior, interior, and documentation. Look under Resources.

Juliet works two jobs, has a family, and tries to update the 1970 Corvette Registry in her limited free time. She could use help. It's worth checking out and joining for 1970 Corvette owners.

    Note from Juliet:
I'm looking for some people to help outwith the Registry please. Things that need to be done are - expanded date decoder pages for the resources section - dead links identified - new registry list to other year corvettes - expanded photo library - And of course I always need help scouting for new cars in local car shows and online auctions / sales! Please drop me an e-mail if you are willing to help! HTML programmers most welcome. :-) Juliet@JulietPage.com

if you are refering to the online corvette registries

      like the http://www.c1registry.com http://www.c2registry.org
      http://www.c3registry.org

i see no reason to be against it because the person who list his car
decides how many information he wants to reveal

you can also only list the car information .

For! For many of the same reasons that Scott said. It can be a good resource of like-minded owners who can share data and oddities with their cars.

I dont join in because of bad experiences many years ago. Before the internet there was several registries, more like surveys. Some used them to locate and buy cars. They typically would solicit your participation, with the carrot that they would share the information in the survey. Most times that didnt happen, but you got an offer to buy your car. I have never to this day gotten any information from those surveys. I am sure that some of these registries today are on the up and up, but I just dont do it.

i,like wayne, had distasteful experiences with registrys in the 70's and 80's, for the same reasons wayne noted. mike

There is a site for 71 corvette registry which I do not think anyone is updating or has been for several years. It seemed like a site that had good info at one time, but is pretty much worthless if not maintained.

For C2's I'm comfortable with the one started in the Netherlands!

I'm sorry, I should have specified online registries. It didn't even dawn on me that there was any other kind!

Re: Your feelings on Corvette registries?

The registries, if done by honorable people can be very useful in:
                      1) Matching found documents to current owners
                      2) Help in building a history of the car
                      3) Begin to curtail "faked" cars
                      4) For those doing "concours" restoration it can help with on line change overs.

I am closer to the Austin Healey community (27 Yrs.) than to corvettes (2 Yrs.) and the registries there have helped in all of these areas particularly in documenting the more valuable 100S and factory 100M models. The community is much smaller than corvettes and I sure is much easier to monitor.

Just my opinion and experience FWIW.

                      Joe

While I can see some of the logic behind some of these registries I have just never been interested in them enough to feel compelled to list a car with any of them.

Re: Your feelings on Corvette registries?

My only gripe is that there are too many of them, each of which is trying to become the 'real' registry.

Is there a registries of registries?

Online registries are public domain, right? That info is available to all. I belong to a newly created registry of C4's with their NCRS awards. I feel somewhat uncomfortable with it, but, figure, what have I got to lose? Now, if it was a registry for a much more valuable car, well.........

I was formerly in favor of them as I thought it was a good way to make contact with others who have the same year Corvette and ask restoration help or make comparisons as to how things should be.
However, now I am skeptical after having googled my name yesterday and realized that pictures of my Corvette came up on the internet along with the town I live in, I am now concerned that this COULD be used as "one stop shopping" for car thieves since along with my car was a list and pictures and locations of all similar model year Corvettes.
It's like a car catalog for thieves and that scares me.
