1957 Primer Color Part II

In an earlier post I requested information regarding the primer color used on 1957. I was of the opinion that there was a change-over from red oxide to charcoal during the year. In an email, Kent Keech suggested that the primer used may have been determined by the color of the top coat.

I would appreciate very much if the individuals that responded to my original post would indicate the primer color and original color of the top coat used.

An approximate VIN# would be helpful as well.

#1286 had dark gray under original Polo White.

213 dark grey primer under cascade green. Have stripped several cars in the 3XXX to 5XXX range with various colors (red, white, black) and they all had dark grey primer. Gary....
