How come you never see the hood open, I missed it at Flint open for just a minute.

A little more on EX 122

There are two kinds of friends; the friend you call to bail you out of jail and the friend sitting next to you in the cell saying "Damn, that was great"!!!

Next time someone sees EX122, please measure the fender scoops and take a photo of theleft one with tick-mark-stick beside it for length and width. I would like to compare it with the part Steve Koss bequethed to me that he cut out of the Motorama car (whatever the build number assigned to it).
              Thanks, Kent

I propose that we name whatever award is the direct opposite of the 4 Star "Bowtie Award" The "EX122 Award". It has had more things changed then Micheal Jackson. Kerbeck does many things to promote the hobby, I just wish he would not pimp this as the Motorama Car.... That car is long gone. IMHO The Motorama 54 Hardtop that has been posted here has a lot more provenance and significance

As far as the dimensions of the scoops, well they wern't there when it was red so my guess is it is whatever a 56-7 scoop measures.

Kent here are pictures of the left and right side scoops. I am not connected to this car in any way. I just took pictures of it at Funfest as it was readily available to all who were there. I have learned that if one wants to know the history behind a restored car...just talk to the guy that did the restoration ie: the 1954 F88 Olds. showcar. This EX122 car has been in the public eye for many years and I suspect whatever restoration has been done would be easily learned...by asking.

The one that Steve Koss cut out of the Motorama car is about 5 1/2 inches long by 4 inches wide.

If I knew how to attach photos to a response, I have photos of this scoop, top and underneath.

                    Regards, Kent

My failing memory seems to be that there were at least two 1953 motorama cars..one for the USA and one for Canada with one being documented as a test burn vehicle. Could it be that Steve Koss cut a fender scoop out of the body that was used as a burn test body?

Plus I think recently published history commented that numerous test bodies were around styling at the time.

Loren and others have studied this much more closely.

                          Joe,
I have asked on this board for photos of the Motorama presentations following the Waldorf. Steve indicated that he cut the left scoop out while another Tech Center Parts Fab (in the fiberglass program) worker cut the other scoop out at the direction of the lead designer (Bill Mitchell ?). While no one was looking, Steve shoved it inside his shirt and left with it at the end of the day. Anyway, photos of later Motorama shows will determine between which two the scoops were deleted. Scoops on EX122 appear to be the same size as '56-7 and are too big to represent the actual Motorama car(s).

The history of EX122 has been examened and reexamined at great length. . From my understanding Very little (if any) remains of the original Motorama car. See Spring 79 Restorer for a very good recap. Eric

Joe: This is from my Ed Teskey picture file. I dont know where or what year the picture was taken, but I think this car is a Prototype or a very early car?
