Help! Does anybody know where I can find a decent reproduction key envelope for my '72? Will other years work just as well? Thanks - Stan

Re: 1972 Reproduction Key Envelope
Stan,
Corvette America has one, part #0403 and Paragon has one listed for 74-77, part #13443. Hope this helps. There are two kinds of friends; the friend you call to bail you out of jail and the friend sitting next to you in the cell saying "Damn, that was great"!!!- Top

Re: 1972 Reproduction Key Envelope
M. F. Dobbins was selling a reproduction for $5 each. I bought several and had the judging chairman and others at the Michigan chapter evaluate and said it would get ful credit. It does have glue on the flap. His contact number is: 215-657-8571. I don't know if he still has them or not.

Re: 1972 Reproduction Key Envelope
Gary,
I saw both glue configurations at Boston last Summer. I was unsure then and am still unsure about 'original' and 'reproduction'.

Re: 1972 Reproduction Key Envelope
There are actually at least two different envelopes -- a 1968, 1969, and maybe 1970+ -- but the last one is doubtful. Based on the AIMs there may be some doubt that there was a key envelope for 1972, but debating that with the interior judge might be a challenge -- depending on who the judge is.
I would encourage you to do some homework and research on the subject -- beyond just asking here and on other boards. The Internet is a poor substitute for real research -- so that you are armed with as much information as you can have. You will then be in a better position to decide if you really need/want a key envelope.
Oh – how to tell a reproduction. Well dip it in 111 trichloroethane. If the “ink” dissolves it is a photo-copy. The originals were printed with ink and the printing will not dissolve in this solvent. Last I knew the reproductions were photo copies, but if they have succeeded in putting glue on the flap, maybe they have gone to the expense of printing them. In that case my suggestion will not help you.Terry- Top

Terry: What about 1971?

Terry,
Are you saying that there wasn't likely an envelope used in, say, 1971?
