Re: NCM Meeting
Until these comments started I always thought that the NCRS and NCM were synonymous. I also didn't even know that the NCM had memberships. I had never visited the NCM but have wanted to since friends have and they were quite impressed.
As I posted on this board previously I suggest that a permanent, prominent NCRS plaque (as support to the NCM) also be placed at the entrance to the museum for all visitors to see. First Impressions. Anything else inside the NCM should speak for itself.
Perhaps future NCRS memberships and renewals could be modified to include an optional amount to be paid toward memberships to the NCM as a partnership gesture.- Top

Re: NCM Meeting
Does the pamphlet only provide information to NCRS new and current members about joining the NCM? My suggestion was to modify the NCRS new memberships and renewals to include the option of becoming a member of the NCM through the NCRS. Is that in the pamphlet? I don't have one in front of me.
I visited the NCRS 'Join Now' page and 'Membership Services' page and neither mentions the National Corvette Museum except in a short blurb about an NCRS video at the NCM in the 'Join Now' page.- Top

Re: NCRS/NCM Meeting
Vito,
My posts regarding the NCRS display at the NCM was only to inform members as to what the museum intentions are towards a future NCRS display/exhibit.
I believe that many members do not know the complete history that NCRS has with the museum. Maybe its time for someone who knows how it all started (an NCRS member) to do an article for the Restorer detailing the history of National Corvette Museum and NCRS's involvement.
This will serve two purposes, it will promote the museum and also detail the NCRS relationship with the museum for our members.
NCRS membership support of the museum comes in many forms, NCM membership dues, purchasing engraved bricks, purchasing items from the museum store, museum delivery of new Corvettes, supporting museum raffles, chapter donations and donations from NCRS National.
What more can NCRS do for the museum? Was asking for a permanent NCRS display too much to ask for?
Continuing to support of the museum by all NCRS members and our National Board is paramount to all of and to Corvette's past, present and future history.
For those of you who are not NCM members here is a link for you, http://services.corvettemuseum.com/PortalTools/NCMF/membership.cfm
And I do support the NCM, have done new Corvette delivery, purchased a brick, attended events at the museum and I just sent in my membership renewal.

Re: NCM Meeting
Scott, that would be ideal, but NCRS has only two employees in the membership/sales office. The additional work of selling/processing NCM memberships would add more work to an office that is running at 110% now. We do provide them free advertising in the Driveline each issue.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: NCRS/NCM Meeting
Isn't it a bit presumptive of NCRS to dictate to the National Corvette Museum, since the museum is a seperate entity, and not the personal property of NCRS?
If NCRS wants to dictate a specific size and type display, NCRS, the organization, should put up the funds to do so and the funds to maintain such.

Re: NCM Meeting
Dick,
I wrote exactly just that kind of article, and it was published (just before I was editor) in the 25th Anniversary Issue of The Restorer. Before anyone else says it, that was almost ten years ago -- 1999.
What was basically the same story was printed in the in the NCM publication, The American Sportscar, in I think 2003.
That story doesn't change -- it is history. I'll leave it to others if it should be printed again in The Restorer.
Kurt,
The display that is there now -- the size and some of the content -- was "strongly suggested" to NCRS by the museum. The original display was updated several ysers later, at no small expense to NCRS and some generous donors, at the further suggestion of the museum.Terry- Top
