'62 shifter boot

The rubber boot on my shifter (4 speed) keeps pulling out from under the retaining plate.

I'm thinking of using a small amount of glue to hold the boot in place under the retaining plate.

Curious what experiences others have had - and what suggestions others have.

Paragon sells a '59-'62 boot with a reinforcing wire molded into the outer flange (their #511) to address that problem.

If you check the aim you will find that they use glue to retain the boot. The repo boots with the wire are pretty good but sometimes still come out. I use a black RTV silicone to attach the boot to the plate, tape it in place to hold while drying. Let it cure overnight and your good to go. Never had one pop after gluing and the RTV is easy to remove. Rich
