Does anyone know the height and length of the white inked date stamp found on the inside of the spare tire carrier housing? I believe the letter height to be 1/8" but am unsure of the length overall. Also, where might this date stamp be located, the "JM" says simply the stamp is found in the "housing" but not any particular area. Would the month April be spelled out or abbreviated as Apr.

Re: C-2 Spare Tire Carrier Date Stamp
Characters are 1/8" high. Each Character occupies 1/8". APR is correct for April. Stamp will read "APR 25 1967" This was a typical stamp that could be adjusted for day month and year, no longer available in that form because 1967 is long gone..... You can still purchase 2008 at Staples.- Top

Re: C-2 Spare Tire Carrier Date Stamp
Gentlemen, I restore damaged black fiberglass items for C-2's. I have examined over 35 tubs. The date stamp appears on only a small percentage of the tubs. The date stamp is located in a protected area and could only be removed with a solvent. One conclusion could be, that only the top tub of a pile would be date stamped. The 1966 JM/TG states that, "The spare tire housing may have a date stamp placed...". I hope this information assist you in your restoration.

My local office suppy store will make up a stamp in a 67 config. I understand that you can get a 67 tank sticker in 2008.Characters are 1/8" high. Each Character occupies 1/8". Re: C-2 Spare Tire Carrier Date Stamp
Thanks everybody, I am able to have a rubber stamp made with the appropriate date code using the info that was provided (especially the pictures). In order to create the look of a roll-over type stamp (sloppy) maybe I should use a white Krylon spray paint on the stamp instead of white ink though.
You can't buy a adjustable date stamp that will go back more than 9-10 years, all 2000+. The only way is to have a rubber stamp made. They will play with the character height and then they can make longer or shorter in overall length using the computer. The photo was good enough to let them see the font and they could match what they saw.
Thanks,
