AO Smith Number on Cross Member Behind Dash Cluster

Found this number "14" on my AO Smith car when I removed the dash cluster. Mentioned it before, but didn't have a pic to post then. Thought people might like to see it. From prior discussions, it appears this is NOT the job number. Where are job numbers "visible" on AO Smith cars? Firewall? Passenger side footwell?

Second question. Is that brown tape around the wiring harness "normal"? I see it all over the car.

    Kirk,

You are correct, that is not an AOS job number. AOS job numbers have a letter followed by a 1-500 sequential. I really don't know what it represents. My 65 AOS did not have a number on the brace.

As far as locations for AOS job numbers check the passenger footwell as well as the rear bulk head behind the gas tank.

Yup, that's normal - there are LOTS of locations where "tape" is called out to be used on harnesses in the assembly manual.
