Could anyone tell me the dimensions of the shifter adjustment gauge that is used on a 1965 Muncie shifter.

Re: Muncie Shifter adjustment gauge.
Dale -- the 1966 Chassis Service Manual quotes 1/8" thick by 41/64" (0.646") wide . My Long Island repro is only 0.035" thick, which is far from 1/8" (0.125") but works fine, even if it has a tendancy to bend. It was 3_1/8" long but I bent one end because of interference problems, so the insert length is only 2"; that provides a little handle to better hold/control the gauge.
So like Don's example, probably anything in this range will work. Just wondering why GM was so particular with that width of 0.646"

Re: Muncie Shifter adjustment gauge.
Thanks for all the help. My issue was that my shifter rod end was bottoming out against the threads of the shifter rod. It would not permit the transmission to go into second gear even though the shifter was properly adjusted ( I used a .250" drill bit on the backs of the shifter until I made your gauge) I cut about 5 threads off the shifter rod, used your dimensions to verify perfect neutral, and the tranny shifts great.- Top
