    HELP! Radio light problem

Preparing my car (1965 Coupe SB) for a PV in April, I discovered that the light in my radio did not operate in the manner discribed in both the PV GUIDE (page 26)and JUDGING MANUAL (page 16).

The light in my radio illuminates when:
    1. The headlight switch is pulled to either parking/headlights position
    2. The radio ON/OFF switch is ON.
The ignition switch does not have to be in the ACC or ON position as both manuals state.
I have received feedback from 2 Duntov passed cars and their radios operate like mine.
I have reviewed the A.I.M. wiring diagram and it appears that the radio light receives power when all of the dash lights recieve power but through the radio ON/OFF switch.
I would appreciate feedback from any C-2 owners.

    Thanks,

    DP

    Dwight,

I just checked my 65 and it works just as yours does. The key does not have to be in the ACC or ON position for the dial to be backlit. Looks like an error in the JG.

        Re: HELP! Radio light problem

You are correct about the light, I checked and my 64 radio light only functions when the radio is on and the light switch pulled to either the 1st or 2nd position. The wiring diagram for 63/64 shows the light is powered by the same grey dash bulb circuit wires, it is then controlled by the radio on/off switch for final activation. I did relay this last year to Roy Sinor but maybe a follow up can't hurt. I also checked with several 63/64 owners and this was always the case. Hope this helps.

          Dan:

Thanks very much for your reply. The evidence is building that the information in the manuals is incorrect.

I will e-mail the Roy Sinor and the C-2 team leaders and hope some action results.
