    Jeff-----

I don't think that caliper casting numbers are currently judged. However, even if I'm correct, that doesn't mean that they won't be judged in the future. So, if "100% correctness" is your intention, you might be wise to locate original-style calipers.

This should not be real difficult, although it might be more difficult to find some that have not been previously converted for 2nd design pistons. Actually, your best bet might be the original caliper castings that HAVE BEEN CONVERTED for 2nd design pistons. The 2nd design pistons are much less expensive and you'll never notice the difference in performance if you drive the car on the street. Plus, I really don't think there's any practical way to discern, on the car, if the calipers have been so converted.

Either way, the 1st design calipers (i.e. "546" prefix casting numbers) with 1st design pistons or converted to 2nd design pistons, I think that Lonestar Caliper will be able to take care of you. They'll likely charge you a premium (and, a greater premium if you want the 1st design pistons), but you should be able to get what you're after.

      Joe,
Thanks for the advice. I also want to thank you (from my sideline role as a 'lurker' for the past few years) for the time, energy and sage advice you offer to this forum. You make this forum stand heads and shoulders above the others!
      Jeff

        Jeff,

I couldn't agree with you more. Mr. Lucia is a great asset to this board - he has provided me with accurate and factual information everytime I have asked.
