1958 early style hood catch

below i have a picture of 2 types of the hood catch

the car has the early style cable supports
i believe the left one on the picture is the correct one for
the early style am i right ??

I found that the one like that on the right cannot be used with the early cable holder unless the hole for the end of the cable is moved inboard. The one on the left looks as if it will work without modification.

Joseph is right provided the correct 58 cable bracket is
used as shown in the attached photo taken from my 58.

i believe the one on the left is correct for the early's. although i'm not sure where the cut-off is for early -mid-.. my car is a march '58 car and has the hood catch pictured on the left..

the ones on my car are for a februari car the short type should be correct because of the early cable holders i have

i think they put one replacement (the long one) on it some time

so i guess the change over was somewhere end march begin april ?

Interesting discussion. The build date on my car is January 2 or 3, 1958.
The April - March time frame for the hood latch change over is about
the time the hood support was moved from the passenger side to the
driver side as I understand it.

My other 58 45XX feb 25th build date.has the hood holder on the passenger side.but had a change of hood catch to repo later style.had been made into 59-60 style.

my car is from 25 feb and has the hood support also on the passenger side
