Re: C-3 steering wheel
It seems like I saw an advertisement recently for someone that now offers this service. The problem is, I don't recall where I saw it.
One thing I'd be aware of: there are reproduction steering wheels out there now. These wheels have a metal core which is virtually identical to the original wheels as far as I could tell. However, based on the ones I've looked at, the "discrepancy" exists with the texture and "feel" of the "hard rubber" component of the wheel. I don't see how a wheel could be restored without replacing the "hard rubber". So, I'd be concerned that a restored wheel might really end up being a lot like a reproduction wheel unless the restorers can do a better job of re-creating the original rubber than the reproducers have been able to.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C-3 steering wheel
My 72 steering wheel was leaving black on my pants since it was aging. I saw a guy at Carlisle who wraps existing lwheels with leather. I ended up keeping my old wheel for NCRS and got a nother wheel which he wrapped in black leather. It was the best change I ever made. It looks great and really improved the feel while driving the car. He can do it with thin foam which comes out looking like the real wheel or a thicker foiam that is similar to the wah wheels are done now. I am very happy with the thin. It is about $150 and his work is excellent.
