1961 windshield question

I removed my windshield which fit very well and had the frame repolished and the ends rechromed. Everything is back together now and when we tried to reattach to body using a new weatherstrip, the T bolts did nt reach thru the body holes in order to start the nuts. It was suggested that I remove the weatherstrip, and use DOMDOM. Does that sound like a solution?

i wouldn't remove the weatherstrip. are you certain that ALL of the t-bolts were correctly inserted thru their holes in the dash/cowl area? Are you re=using the original t-bolts or perhaps shorter repo t-bolts? Did you remove all the factory caulking material? have the wife or neighbor put down pressure on the middle of the windshield and start the middle nuts on the t-bolts (don't tighten them till you progressivly work your way outboard to the windshield posts and get their nuts started). good luck mike

Thanks for the responce. I have removed all the caulk, and I am using the originag t bolts. I did not try to put pressure in the middle, but tried to get the outside bolts at the door post first. I will try to pressure the middle now.

Don't use any Domdom...no need too. Make sure the "tee's" are seated properly in the frame and the weaterstrip is warm and the flat side is facing down. torque the bolts evenly to prevent stress on the glass.
