C4 Build sheet locations

Help,
Trying to locate my original build sheet for my 1985 #1518. I have some locations to search, but don't want to tear the car apart to find nothing. Any previous knowledge or tips would be greatly aprreciated.

Look at inner bracket of the strut bar, folded up inside. Also behind the speedometer behind dash.

You can get an exact duplicate from the NCM in Bowling Green, KY.

I don't remember hunting for mine. I seem to remember that it was just "there" in all of the papers I recieved when I took delivery of the car. Who knows, it might even have been on the floor, somewhere. At the time, I wouldn't have known what it was anyway, but I decided at that time (serendipitously) to keep everything relating to the car that I found. Heck, I even kept the carbon copies of the certified checks I paid for the car with!

Bottom line is: I don't think that there is a secret hiding place, like on the tank, or under the dash, as with some of the older models. So, if the original owner didn't retrieve it then, its long gone.

I have found them tucked up in the strut bar also.

Take the rear license plate off and peek inside behind the right tail light. You will probably see it there, on the tank. They are usually pinched in there pretty good. I'd order the duplicate from the museum.

On my 96 a build sheet is on top of the gas tank, and I saw and photographed it in the manner Tom suggested.

Best bet is to order one from the Museum. Also order the dealer invoice from GM. Is your SPI under the center console lid? That has all the RPOs on the car. C4s are easy to confirm options on. Eric

I found one on my '85 on the driver side, top of the fuel tank. I saw it while replacing the fuel pump several years ago. Didn't try to remove it, as I did get several copies from the NCM.

Yep. Mine is there too but it is laid flat on top of the tank and the wide black fuel tank strap goes right down the middle of it. The only way I could ever remove it w/o destroying it in the process would be to unstrap the fuel tank. I haven't yet ordered a duplicate from the NCM ($45) because I can't imagine what information it's going to provide that isn't already on the SPI label in the storage compartment.

Just look all under the rear of the car, when I worked at a Chevrolet dealership in the early eighties they could usually be found under the cars in all the suspension components and exhaust.
