'67 Voltage Regulator

Two questons for my '67 L79:
1. I just put new mufflers on my car and I want to hear how they sound. My voltage regulator is being rebuilt by John Pirkle. Will my car start without a voltage regulator?

2. My friend has a spare voltage regulator from his '68 L79 that he is willing to let me borrow. Will it work properly on my car?

Mark,

If you have a standard points ignition, you should be OK without the voltage regulator for a test run. If you have transistor ignition, I think I would avoid running without the regulator. The 68 voltage regulator will work - no problem.
