    C1 Carb Tag Dating

I need to get the carb tags for my '58. It's a 270hp engine. My understanding is the carbs were installed during car assembly verses engine assembly, is this correct? If so, how much ahead of the car assembly date should the dates on the tags be? Thanks once again guys for all your help. Ted

Date on carbs depends on how long the carbs were sitting in inventory at St. Louis before being pulled to go onto a target car. Like most other dated parts the judging criteria is a time interval of 0-6 months prior to the car's final assy date. The average or 'typical' interval for dated parts is 2-8 weeks prior to final assy.
