Re: Protecto plate
To the best of my knowledge color and interior color and material is NOT on the PoP, however the exact engine assembly stamp, transmission assembly stamp, and differential assembly stamp is. Some (I think not all) options are also coded into the plate.Terry- Top

Re: Protecto plate
Paint and interior color/material are on the plate in the upper right corner (in addition to the info you mention). No options other than paint, interior, and power train details are on the C-2 POP.

Re: Protecto plate
Thank you Warren. I tried to look at the examples Pat posted earlier in the thread, but I just couldn't be sure from them.
Now if only I knew what happened to the images I had in that folder ... damn computer ate my homework, again.Terry- Top

Re: Protecto plate
Terry my 1970's POP does not have the stamping for my interior 403 or paint 982 in the upper corner, this area is not stamped at all.
My 68's POP does have the stamping for the interior 407 and paint 974 in the upper corner.
There is a stamping group on m 1970 POP on the same line as the transmission stamping and below the rear end stamping that I do not know what it identifies. 113 13 is the stamping.- Top

Re: Protecto plate
Jim,
The front pages of the AIM should tell you what those numbers mean. There is a drawing of the PoP and a list of the coded options. The options that are listed are coded both by numbers and location of the numbers on a grid. I know the radio is one of the items listed, but can't recall the others.Terry- Top

Re: Protecto plate
What about a repo Window sticker? Will that jeopardize the legitimacy of car?

Re: Protecto plate
Just my opinion, but I think it depends on how it is presented. If I saw an aged repro window sticker I'd be highly suspect. If I saw a laminated one taped to the window, I'd think it was all in good fun (not unlike a photo journal of the car's restoration or one of those acrylic board listing the car's features).

Re: Protecto plate
I had one made up and laminated for mine, to stick under the wiper blade at local shows - spectators enjoy it, and comment on how little the car cost when new. Lots of folks don't want to appear clueless and ask questions, and the sticker answers them, and occasionally prompts interesting conversations.- Top
