    750 Alternator

I wrote a long blog about John Pirkle and then canned it. The only thing that needs be said about John is that he is truly a fine person. I’m sure there is a good reason why he is covered up. Like, maybe, the combination of a tough market, picky customers and his sought after professional attention to detail. By the way does anyone know of a 67 Nov/Dec or 68 Jan/Feb 750 alternator? John is having a hard time locating one.

    Dale,
I checked my collection and the closest I can get is C 7.

Thanks for looking. I found one dated March 5th 1968 and my trim tag was march 8th 1968. I am going to get it and just hope the dates are not too close together. Alt. on the 5th and trim tag the 8th I guess it is acceptable according to the 6 mo rule. They were built fairly close together (200 miles) and it being a tuesday to a friday I think it was possible by truck. P.S. I may now have a 1100696 8C23 to unload. They look somewhat rare as a TI amp alt.

      Thanks again
      Dale

Too bad it's not a late 65 date on that 696. I could use one for my Nov 5th built 66 L-72. Would be nice to have a registry of dated parts for those wanting to trade not sell.

          Dale,

You can blame me. I bought a 750 alternator dated January 15, 1968 from John in March 2006. He had just got in a shipment of 250+ cores & the 750 was in there. My car was built January 24, 1968.

I waited 2+ years for it. If you are still looking for one with a better date, don't give up. Give John a call from time to time, you never know what he gets in. You'll always be able to sell yours.
