    Rear end vibration

    Guys,

I just swapped out the rear carrier on my 340HP 1963 (close ratio BW). It had 3.36 gears and I went to the original 3.70 ratio. Driveability, particularly at low speed is much better however at highway speeds (65-70MPH) I'm getting a vibration in the rear.... too much to be acceptable.

Other than replacing the carrier (Ikerds) as a unit everything else back there is the same as before; drive shaft, half shafts,etc..

I'm thinking that I may have an issue with the drive shaft which was not evident before with the higher rear...

Anybody run into this issue and/or have any thoughts...

    Thanks,

    Joel

Had the same problem with my LT-1. (4/11) It was the drive shaft out of ballance. This is a very common problem.

      Joel,

This is only a guess as I have little experience with midyears, but perhaps you want to try rotating one of the half shafts 180 degrees and see if that cancels some of the balance issues. In this case, two wrongs might make a right!

P.S. I have a lift and live near Clinton, NJ. If you want to spare getting on your back, just send me a PM and you are welcome to use it.
