    The Great Build Sheet Hunt...NOT!

While listening to the rain, I decided to get ambitious and see if there was a shipping sheet between the speedo & tach of my '71. Upon examination, I have concluded that either someone got back there before me (possible, but unlikely on this car....but I could be wrong) or there was never one there. I have the tank sticker...it was still on the car, never touched. So, where else did those wacky GM folks put those shipping sheets on '71 convertibles? I did find an old insurance card sleeve from who-knows-when behind the radio, but that was it. I've been through the archives, searched all the obvious places...I just want to feel that I've looked everywhere.

I think that many of the Order Copies that were behind the radio were 'lost' when the radios were changed over the years. I remember throwing my Copy away when I took the radio out for service under warranty.
There are a couple of other things I threw away before I knew better. How about the CEC solenoid and bracket IN the seat shim bag!!!

OUCH!!! I HATE IT when that happens!!

Has anyone ever found one under the console plate, where the ashtray/fiberoptics/shifter is? Impossible as it may seem, I don't think mine has ever been off. I mean, the screws look like they've never had a screwdriver inthem, and they are OLD. I suppose I could take the trim piece next to the radio off and shine a light in there with a mirror....hate to go into something that's never been apart before.....

        Jeremy,
On my 71, I have been inside the dash to re-cone the stock speakers and have removed the shift console to reconnect the optics. Original radio still in there and I beleive I am the first to venture into these areas. No paperwork to be found. mIKE
