Can anyone tell me where the date code is on a midyear distributor. I have a 67 distributor, out of the car, with a delco band that reads 1111196, but I can't find the date code on it. Appreciate any help. Thank you,

Re: Midyear Distributor Date Code
Didn't realize the date code is on the Delco Band, so I answered my own question. The date code is 6F10, which I think is June 10, 1966. So, my real question then is other than the delco band, which on this distributor is removeable, how would you know if the distributor was original or even the correct one for the car?- Top

Re: Midyear Distributor Date Code
If the band is good, you have a good start. The midyear distributors did not have a hole for a thrust button on the thrust side of the tach drive crossgear, so the housing is another clue. After that, look for the original vacuum advance. The original will be stamped 236 15 on the flange. After that, put it on a machine to check the curve, clean and detail to your liking, and you are good to go.Bill Clupper #618- Top
