    Correct Battery Available?

I have a low mileage '92 'Vert that is very original except the battery and tires.

The installed WalMart battery is on its last legs. I'd like to replace it with either the correct Delco or a more correct looking battery.

    Looking for advice/suggestions:

    1) Is the original still available?
    2) If not, is there a good quality look alike available?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Re: Correct Battery Available?

See your copy of the Judging Guide... In 1992, the factory original battery was a Delco Freedom battery, Series 75, with the base car having a 693 catalog number and 525 Amp cold craking spec. The ZR-1 had a higher 695 CGA spec.

You might get REAL lucky and find some old stock squirreled away, 'somewhere'... But, today's Delco relacement batteries lack the 'Freedom' designation, have different colored labels and a slightly different case configuration.

Expect a 50% originality deduction for a current day, service replacement battery vs. a factory production original. That's a fact of life we all live with....
