    Factory marking Y/N?

    Is the green marking a factory thing?

    Hello;
    My 2 cents says it was just somebody marking the drum while resurfacing. Making sure the drum is put back on the same location.
    "LF" = left front.
    Hope that helps.

    And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance

      Michael, do you have metallic Brakes? I have an NOS drum with a green daub of paint approximately in the same spot and best I can measure it is for metallic brakes. But, my green paint is on the outside.

      Also as I remember the drum for metallic and non-metallic had the same casting numbers but the metallic were thicker. I'm sure others will chime in on this.

        It's possible that the green marking indicates a drum for metallic brake 63-64's but I don't remember. I have a few NOS NON metallic brake drums and I don't remember any marking. They're painted/coated with chassis black.

        The only measurable physical difference between standard and metallic 63-64 drums is the thickness of the web, or flat section, of the front (only) drums. If I remember correctly, the metallic drums are .010"-.015" thicker than standard drums. The rears are exactly the same thickness as standard drums.

        The casting numbers are the same for standard and metallic drums.

        The finish inside the drum is different for metallic. Drums for standard brakes are lathe turned and drums for metallic brakes are ground.
