58 Trunk Irons - Correct nut

I'm trying to find out what are the correct nut for the trunk iron studs for my '58. In the 58 AIM it indicates "3751546 NUT ASSY". In CC catalog they indicate that the trunk irons use the flat speed nuts similar to the emblems. The nuts that came off of the car are more like the traditional speed nuts with a sealant on the inside. Any help would be appreciated, Ted

On my early 58' it had the traditional "PAL" speednuts with the sealant you mentioned...I guess to keep the water out. All of the nuts appeared to have the goldish finish. I hope this helps.

      Ted,

The "nuts' are similar to the ones used on the emblems but larger. I was fortunate to find a package of 10 at Carlisle last year, but I also located some from Richard Fortier who advertises in the Driveline. His were black, but originals like the ones I found on a table at Carlisle were olive green in color. I had called all the traditional parts people and there unable to help; that's when I called Richard and he was able to round them up.

Hi, I had some nice originals which were a gold color with the rubber type donut seal underneath each. They were removed in 59 along with the trunk irons due the weight of lid hitting owner on head when he loaded his golf clubs!
