I have an original 71 270 horsepower. It has painted valve covers. I believe the aluminum are for LT-1's.

      Greg and Joe-----

Yes, ALL 1968-79 base engine cars used painted, stamped steel valve covers. All other small blocks used cast aluminum with ONE exception. The exception? 1968 with L-79. That application used chrome plated, stamped steel covers.
