    Carb date vs. Build date

I'm debating what to do with my 69 427 with the incorrect carb. My vehicle build is Nov '69. Does a Jan or March dated '69 carb impact scoring because it is so much eralier than the build date?

No, if your judging score is your primary concern, a carb date 11 months before your build date won't change your judging score...NCRS rules allow a very generous year before build date. But...don't be surprised if you see the judges looking at each other and pointing at your carb...they'll know in all likelihood it's NOT the original carb.

Wow...Seems like it used to be a year...just a year ago.

Sorry, Don, I be wrong...them judges will "whack" you like the Sopranos.

If the price is right the points you lose for the date won't hurt your score much.

Here is a thought....what if the carb is dated say a few days or maybe a week after the vehical's build date?

Think about it a bit before you answer.

Since '69 was a strike year, is the 6 month rule extended at least the duration of the strike?

Re: Carb date vs. Build date

Depends on the build date of the car. I judgeed a 1969 today that was built a month before the strike -- the strike had no impact on the build of this car.

                  Terry,

I was referring to Don's (or other post-strike) cars. Do they get an extra month?

I should have added that to my post.

Re: Carb date vs. Build date

Not ALL post-strike cars. Only those that are close to the strike date. After all one can imagine the parts suppliers were also not producing parts during the time cars were not produced, but once car production began the flow of parts also began again. One has to use a little common sense, but also not allow a free pass on ALL dates.

I have been looking at hundreds of 7029202 carbs and have not seen (yet) any with a date after July 69. Would love to see a picture if they exist.
