Just replaced the radiator w/Dewitts,new upper/lower hoses, new heater hoses. All with correct clamps. Filled w/distilled water for a test run. Blew the lower radiator hose off the water pump & the fan belt ate half way into the lower heater hose. Sould I tie the heater hoses back w/plastic tie? Can you use an adhesive on the water pump to lower radiator hose? What type?

Re: 62 hose problem
John,
It sounds like you had a bad day with the 62. Check the water pump where the lower hose attaches for chevy orange paint and clean it off then clean the inside the lower hose and re attach. As for the heater hoses, check the assembly manual to make sure they are properly installed, I think 62 had little aluminum bands to tie them together, I know early 63 had them.- Top

Re: 62 hose problem
Yes, it is a close fit, I have the experience. There is to be an aluminum tie, just a few inches in front of the generator. Also, check the length of the heater hose. Route it where it should be, but don't leave much if any extra hose. It seems if you do, the hose will creep forward and bow outward, right were the belt wants to rub on it.

Re: 62 hose problem
If I remember correctly there is a metal bracket which the 2 hoses go through. The bracket is attached with the front exhaust manifold bolt. The bracket keeps the hoses together and away from the fan belt. I don't believe aluminum straps were used.- Top

Re: 62 hose problem
I routed the hoses thru the bracket under the generator but they bend at almost 90 degrees toward the water pump. The assembly manual shows a strap on page #149. Corvette Cenral doesn't show it. I wonder if Chevy dealer still uses them. I used a plastic tie after shortening the hose. I hope this works.- Top

Re: 62 hose problem
Yes, there is the 2 hose bracket at the generator mount. Then about 4" +or- is the alum. tie. It is shown in the AIM as well. That tie, is longer than the other ties are that you get when you order the alum. tie kit. The other alum. ties are used for the wind. washer hoses.- Top
