    Re: Mershons-1970 Corvette LT-1

I don't know, but if it were me, I'd look for a different car....one that is a little less mysterious. For some reason there sure are a LOT of 1970 LT-1 convertibles popping up right now....there weren't any to be found 5 years ago when I was looking for one, and they didn't build very many. I'd feel a lot better about spending my money elsewhere....Mershon's sure as heck doesn't need it. After seeing the cars up close that some of these dealers have bought at auctions and turning around and asking, in some cases, TRIPLE what they paid for the car....I'd rather pay fair $$ from a private seller than a dealer. Look in the Driveline....they're out there, and if they aren't there now, they may be next quarter.

I agree these so called collector car dealers need a close eye.But then again they are used car dealers and we have heard the horror stories about them for years. Since there have been used cars!Buyer beware!Tom

....and I can't help but notice that when these outfits start getting TV exposure, the insanity REALLY goes out the window......hint hint hint.....

I agree the T.V. exposure brings this hobby to a whole new LOW level. I do think there are some good dealers out there but I also think the bad out way the good.I would say do your homework and be very careful!

A dealer sells his used Corvette for the most profit he can. If the buyer knows the market and how to inspect the car he will never get burned buying a car no matter who is selling it. I went to a Corvette dealer one time who had been scratching off the paint on the pad with a screwdriver.
He was just buying and selling cars and had no clue about originalty.

Currently on eBay there is a 1970 Corvette convertible by a start-up used Corvette dealer. The posted VIN is wrong so I contacted the seller twice to ask for the correct VIN. The first time I explained in detail how it should appear. No response. The next email I sent I stated that it was [wrong] to advertise an incorrect VIN. No response. I filed a complaint through eBay and got one 'Thanks' and one apology from the seller along with the correct VIN. I hope.
